Hoverflies are often seen darting from flower to flower in the garden. They are excellent pollinators but that is not all they do.
When they are larvae about half of the species feed on common garden pests like aphids (greenfly). Other species feed on dead wood so help with recycling in the garden. So having these fast flying insects in your garden can be a big benefit.
