It grows to roughly 1m tall and is known to be extremely hardy. It survives temperatures as low as -20C probably due to its origins in the mountains of Central Asia.

It flowers between One and August and loves to grow at roadsides and verges. It has deeply lobed leaves and the nectar-rich flowers are a favourite of many species of bee, including Red-tailed and Buff-tailed Bumblebees and Honeybees.
